Description: **Downloaded from NCDOT on 5/6/10 by Malinda Ford. Manually editing municipalities with changes based on county shapefiles. Updated Denton on 8/16/10. Updated Archdale on 11/1/10. Updated Lexington on 1/28/11 (eastern side only for the Abbotts Creek project by matching to the county GIS website). Updated Archdale on 9/7/11 based on annexation records. Updated Stoneville and Wentworth on 9/22/11. Added files from NWPCOG side; but used Forsyth County's layer for these municipalities. Updated all 12 counties as of 7/25/2013. Updated Mebane on 9/13/16 from file from AWCK in reference to the LDP. Updated Eden on 9/14/16 from file provided by City for P&R plan.** The North Carolina Department of Transportation - GIS Unit developed the digital GIS Municipal Boundaries - Powell Bill 2009 data set from the 2009 Powell Bill boundaries which incorporated municipalities in North Carolina that participate in the Powell Bill Program are required to submit to NCDOT on a regular basis. Boundaries of municipalities which do not participate in the Powell Bill Program are also included in the layer. These boundaries are periodically updated from maps and GIS data submitted by the local towns or counties to the North Carolina Department of Transportation - GIS Unit. Sources for the boundaries vary in scale and format based on what was supplied.
